Ricardo Cruz is a Portuguese and English as a foreign language high school teacher with a degree in Portuguese and English Literature by the University of Porto. He has always been enthusiastic about distance education projects. During his teacher training year, he developed a web-based blended-learning platform for English as a foreign language for his students. He has participated in conferences about language learning, teaching, and political communication in Porto, Aveiro, Lisbon and Toronto. He is the responsible for the Social Communication Technological Course at the Development and Education Institute (INED) in Maia, Portugal and he is a Portuguese teacher at INED Nevogilde, in Porto, Portugal. Currently he is taking a Communication Sciences Masters at the University of Porto. His main interests are virtual worlds as a learning and teaching platform and political communication, through online social media and web 2.0 / 3.0.
